LB is somewhat a skill match up, hold onto your river Q, try to dodge her W as much as you can, LB will usually use it once they Q you.
Afterwards you can all in her and deal some damage, even if you get caught with her E (it would be ideal not to), it won't deal too much damage, especially in laning phase, beware of getting trapped undertower, tho
Diana
Diana is designed to counter Assassins and one Shot squishy targets post 6. The con Diana players have is if they not fed enough they can't kill anyone and they'll die to ur team when they dive backline.
So long trades favor her because of her three hit passive. You as Qiyana win quick trades, same goes for other assassins. The problematic here is there is also only a specific time where u clearly win a quick trade, the time where her shield is on cd.
So if u don't got a clearly lead until 6 I would recommend to not fighting her.
Look for Roams
Pantheon
Honestly, don't expect to kill pantheon. To kill him, you are basically gambing that the pantheon is bad and misses his abilities. His cooldowns are pretty long in the early game so whenever you see him use q on the wave, don't be afraid to e q(grass) and w q(rock) out. With that trade you might be able to kill pre 7(before panth's q become like 2 second)
Renekton
Don't fight him. Shove the wave and roam. After you get some kills outside mid try to os him. If he survives the burst, start praying. Repeat roams until you can oneshot him succesfully. Renekton is one of the few champions Qiyana can outscale. If you happen to be in a full ad team and he has at least two braincells to stack armor, just ff/dodge.
Rumble
there is honestly no way to outtrade him in lane ever as qiyana, so your best bet is to roam
Zoe
Early on, play cautiously and avoid her Paddle Star (Q) and Sleepy Trouble Bubble (E). Use minions to block her skill shots and look for opportunities when her abilities are on cooldown. At level 3, you can look for trades if she mispositions. Post-6, be wary of her burst damage and look to all-in when her Flash or summoner spells are down. Utilize your mobility to dodge her abilities and engage decisively. If direct engagements are risky, focus on roaming to impact other lanes.
Galio
Poke from a distance and ask your jungler for help. try to get better roam timers
Lux
you can go on her if she wastes q. just wait for your ult and kill her then, otherwise shove lane with tiamat and roam, she needs to use her abilities to push back so that's when she's vulnerable.
Vex
In short you don’t, push your wave when you can and roam the map for kills. She is a hard counter and unbearable sometimes.
Ahri
Her Charm (E) is everything—if she misses it, she’s free. Hold your E until she throws it, then sidestep and go in hard. Keep the wave near your tower early so you can all-in at level 3. Post-6, don’t let her bait you with R—wait it out or force it, then combo when she’s vulnerable. You can E past her to mess with her aim, and W stealth lets you dodge Charm mid-combo. Don’t let her poke you down
Sylas
he's tanky, heals a ton with W, and can steal your ult. You win early if you play clean: dodge his E, and never let him get a full combo off. Look to all-in at level 3 or after Dirk spike, but only if you’ve poked him down first. If you miss your combo and he gets to heal, you’re done. Post-6, don’t give him your R for free—force him to use it defensively or bait it out. If you can’t snowball lane, just roam. He’s hard to kill later, but squishies aren’t.
Zed
Early on, avoid his poke by staying behind minions, especially levels 1–2. At level 3, you can look for trades when his W is down; if he misses his Q or uses W aggressively, punish him. Post-6, bait out his R or force him to use it defensively. Your burst can match his, but only if you combo cleanly and don’t let him get the jump. Edge of Night is a solid pickup to block his poke or ult follow-up. If he plays safe, roam hard—Zed doesn’t match your map pressure.
Yasuo
Yasuo is a manageable matchup for Qiyana if you play smart. His Wind Wall (W) can block your Q and R, so bait it out before committing to your combo. Keep the wave near your tower early to limit his engage potential. At level 3, look for trades when his Wind Wall is down. Post-6, be cautious of his ultimate; avoid extended trades and burst him quickly. Edge of Night is a solid pickup to block his knock-up combo. If he plays safe, use your superior roaming to impact other lanes.
Viktor
Viktor's early-game poke and zone control can be challenging. Play cautiously until level 3, avoiding unnecessary trades. Once you have your full combo, look for opportunities when his abilities are on cooldown. Utilize your mobility to dodge his skillshots and engage decisively. Post-6, be wary of his ultimate and consider building items like Edge of Night to mitigate his burst.
Akali
Early on, avoid her poke and play cautiously until level 3. At level 3, look for trades when her abilities are on cooldown. Post-6, be cautious of her ultimate; avoid extended trades and burst her quickly. If she uses her shroud, wait it out or force her to use it defensively. Utilize your mobility to dodge her skillshots and engage decisively.
Katarina
Katarina's early-game cooldowns are long, so punish her if she uses abilities carelessly. Use Grass Q to poke and confuse her positioning, and Ice Q to slow her if she tries to engage. Save your W to dodge her daggers or reposition. Post-6, wait for her to R, then instantly R her back to cancel it. Don't hesitate—if you go in, commit and combo fast. If she gets a reset, you're in trouble. If you're behind, roam—she's bad at matching map pressure.
Mel
Don’t try to trade unless her W is down—if you go in while it’s up, she’ll reflect your burst and you’ll lose the trade. Her E root is slow but wide, so dodge sideways, not back. Once you hit level 6, you can look for all-ins if her W is on cooldown. If she plays safe, push and roam. Just don’t get poked out before you get to play
Orianna
Keep the wave near your tower early, and look to trade when her ball is away from her or she uses W to shove. Use Grass Q to poke and Ice Q to slow her if she steps up. At level 6, you can all-in if she burns W or mispositions. Don’t stand between her and the ball—she’ll hit you with the return. If she plays safe, push and roam
Yone
Early on, avoid trading when his shield from W is up. Use Grass Q to poke and confuse his positioning, and Ice Q to slow him if he tries to engage. Save your W to dodge his third Q or reposition. Post-6, be cautious of his all-ins; wait for him to use E, then punish him when he returns. If he plays safe, push and roam
Twisted Fate
Twisted Fate is a free lane if you play it right. He has no mobility and relies on Gold Card to keep you off him. Bait out his W, then go in hard—he can’t escape once you commit. Use Grass Q to poke and Ice Q to slow him if he steps up. Post-6, if he ults to roam, shove the wave and follow or ping your team. He can’t match your burst, so punish him whenever he mispositions. If he plays safe, push and roam
Syndra
Early on, play cautiously and avoid her Q and E combo. Look for opportunities when her abilities are on cooldown. At level 3, you can look for trades if she mispositions. Post-6, be wary of her burst damage and look to all-in when her abilities are on cooldown. Utilize your mobility to dodge her abilities and engage decisively.
Vladimir
Levels 3-6 is probably your only time to really kill the vlad. In those levels, go in and trade agressively and try to bait his w out. He should be roughly 40-60% hp from one trade with him and after he uses w, look to all in him with flash and ignite before his w comes back up. Post level 7+ try to roam but you will most likely never kill him.
Hwei
Look to engage when his key abilities are on cooldown, especially his E (fear) and W (root). Utilize your stealth from the brush element to approach undetected and execute quick combos. Avoid extended trades where he can zone you out; instead, focus on short, decisive engagements
Malzahar
Before you go in, poke him with a basic attack or a low-cooldown ability to break that shield. Once it's down, you can look for an all-in. Be cautious of his ultimate—if he catches you with it, you're in trouble. Consider taking Edge of Night to block his suppression and give yourself a better chance in trades.
Annie
Pre 6, use your e on her when she is chasing you to q(stun). The travel time of your e will almost negate the stun time, and you can get a better trade with q(ice/grass) w and auto until she is out of range and q(rock). dont trade after 6 just roam
Azir
I prefer going the safe route and take teleport in this lane matchup unless you got a very strong jungler compared to their jungler. Although azir is known for his monster scaling, you can actually be more useful in dragon/baron fight and also sidelanes. Don't get poked out too much in the early game, concede some minions until you are level 3 and trade with your q(grass).
Lissandra
She has a easy time poking you with her q in the early levels. Start with long sword and refillable potions because Qiyana's all in damage is so much better than lissandra's. Concede farm until level 3 and you can trade aggresively after you reach level 3. She is squishier than you think, only thing to worry is her q poke.
Anivia
you can kill her though egg with conqueror if she fights while pushed in lane, if she plays safe look to roam and play with jungler. your more useful in team fights but laning will be difficult.
This is my personal Qiyana mid guide. I’m not a pro or anything, but I’ve been playing her a ton and wanted to share what’s been working for me. I’ve been super focused on learning her matchups and playstyle, so I figured this might help others too! I’ve included the most helpful resources I use down in the Resources section, and I’ll keep updating and refining the guide to make sure it stays current.
🌿 LANING
Focus on fundamentals. Combos are fun, but lane control and jungle tracking matter more—especially early. Your power really starts at level 3, and spikes hard at 6.
General Plan
1–2: Farm safely, avoid early trades 3: E > Q > W > Q trades, start pushing or freezing 5–6: Prep wave, look for all-in or roam Post-6: Strong kill pressure + roam threat = control
Tips
Weak early vs ranged champs—play safe
Level 3 and 6 are your spikes
Crash + roam, or freeze + threaten
Don’t force fights early—play smart
Matchups
đź”® Mages (Syndra, Ori, Ahri)
Stay behind minions to dodge poke
Use Brush element to reposition
Slow push → crash → roam
Trade after cooldowns are down
🛡️ Tanks (Galio, Malphite)
Push wave and roam—they can’t match tempo
Punish slow waveclear
Fight after they waste CC
🔥 Assassins (Zed, Yone, Akali)
Play reactively early, not aggressively
Hold Brush to dodge gapclosers
Freeze near tower to stay safe
Trade after they engage
đź’Ą Bruisers (Irelia, Sett, Yasuo)
Avoid extended trades
Use short poke: Q > W > Q
Punish after they use key abilities
Freeze near tower to force bad trades
🌊 WAVE MANAGMENT
Hold: Pre-kill setup or safety Crash: After trade win to roam/reset Slow Push: Set up big crash to dive or roam Hard Push: Deny CS, roam, or reset
🔪 COMBOS
Combos! Yes, they’re fun, and Qiyana has some flashy ones—but don’t get too caught up in them. Focus on the basics and spend most of your early game tracking the wave and both junglers. Flashy stuff comes naturally once you’ve got fundamentals down.
Auto attacks can be added between abilities when possible to maximize damage. You can usually AA right after R. Flash tech can also be added into most combos when needed for reach or style.
Flash Tech
Q > Flash – Long-range snipe or finish
E > Flash – Instant gapclose
R > Flash – Multi-man setup
No R Combos
Q > W > Q – Basic poke
E > Q > W > Q – Standard burst (AA between when safe)
Q > W > E > Q – Faster burst, less reliable
E > Q (Brush) > W > Q (Terrain) – Clean trade combo
R Combos
E > R > Q > W > Q – Core all-in combo (AA after R)
E > Q > R > W > Q – Guarantees root
Q > W > E > R > Q – High burst
W > E > Q > R – Long-range engage
W > Q (Brush) > wait > E > Q > R – Stealth pick burst
