All i want to show/teach you a way to play akali on top. This is one of my newest build i tested this out on ranked and actualy is not as bad as it looks.
This rune is perfect for that lane againts the most of the champs. We can say its kind a broken with that build.
About the build itself. I know how the riftmaker got nerfd not long ago but its still good for a champ like akaly and why i chosed Riftmaker for the magical item ? becouse its gave a litle bit of Omnivamp + the by the rune you can get heal from the minions if they die near you. All i can say its worth a try and i recommend you to try it first in draft or normal before ranked. Its true how its worked me but i play Akali for a while now.

You start with a Doran ring and 2 potions. You not really gonna need more potion than 2 is way more than enough becouse of the rune. You will need to buy the items from left to right. (You can buy extra potions if you have a hard time on youre lane)
The next item's are very important to buy them in order becouse AMPLIFYING TOME 435G will give you more Ability power that means more damage on your Q and its very important in early game. The next will gonna be the RUBY CRYSTAL 400G becouse of the + hp you can get. When you have those two you can buy the LEECHING LEER for 465G and if you farm well its = with a big advantage on youre lane. Next you can buy BLASTING WAND for 850G and after that you will need to farm more 1050G to buy the RIFTMAKER. When you have the rift maker you need 300G to buy a simple boot and after that another 300G to buy the Cloth Armor. Then you will need just 500G to buy the Plated Steelcaps boot After you have your boot you need another 435G to buy again a AMPLIFYING TOME and another 400G for RUBY CRYSTAL and another 500G for Giant's Belt and another 850G to buy a Blasting Wand. When you have these items you gonna need only 815G to buy the Demonic Embrace. This will gonna go as long as you dont have every item what you need. I hope how you realised how importat to know the costs of diferent items in order to know when you need to go home. If you learn the prices you will gonna be instantly better in not just your lane but in the whole game becouse as i sayed if you know the costs you know when you have to go home and if you know when to go home that means you can farm more or start roaming and help the others. Its basicly = a free win in most of the cases. But its depends on your team too.

You will need to learn how to Farm and lane control. Lucky you I can teach you that.
Farming is all about timing. If youre timing wrong you lose a farm. No the game is not about how well you farm is about how much gold you can get. Thats why the most importat times when you need to be on your lane and farm is during clash/siege minion waves. But you dont know when they spawn ? Lucky you I know it and I will tell you:

1-2:05; 2-3:35; 3-5:05, 4-6:35, 5-8:05; 6-9:35; 7-11:05; 8-12:35; 9-14:05(This is the time when the tower plates are fall down); 10-15:05; 11-16:05; 12-17:05; 13-18:05; 14-19:05; 15-20:05; 16-21:05; 17-22:05; 18-23:05; 19-24:35; 20-EVERY 30S(That means it will spawn in every wave becouse for a wave it takes to spawn 30s)
All you have to do just go in to a costume game and learn the times when they spawn.
Now how you know when the clash/siege minions are spawn you know when you have to be on your lane. Nov lets have a look at the timing. To get the farm you will need to last hit the minions that means you need to hit the minions when they on the lovest hp posible (Actualy it depends on your atck or magic damage what you can do) Its very important to not use every single ability you have on minions becouse if you do you may get killed in a flank or you will not gonna able to make trades with the enemy laner. What trades mean ? Its simple. When they want to get your minion you just make their work harder by dealing damage to them. Thats why you dont want to use youre spells and Abilities on the enemy minions. About the lane control: to slow push a lane you will have to aa (auto atack) the minions in the next orded: Kill 2 ranged minons and let your minions to deal with the rest. For pushing you just kill as many minions on the lane as many you can. For a faster push just kill 2 Melee minions and let the rest of the work for your minions and to freez a lane you dont have to do anithing just last hit the minions but watch out. If there is too much minions on the lane from your side then no matter what are you doing the will gonna push aniway so some times it smart to let die your minions isnt it ? Actualy no. You need always one or 2 ranged or melee minions on the lane
